Business Travel insurance to protect you and your equipment

Whether you travel for business only occasionally or regularly, you might not have stopped to consider the benefits that business travel insurance can offer you. Many business travellers simply travel with standard single trip cover, but did you know that there is actually specialist business insurance you can take out to cover you, whether you're travelling once or multiple times throughout the year?

Different needs

When you're travelling on business, you might encounter different situations and risks than, for example, a family travelling on holiday. Not only are you usually on a tight schedule, but you may also be carrying extra money for business or expensive equipment for meetings or presentations. This is where business travel insurance can come in handy, to ensure you're protected.

What's on offer?

So, what can business cover offer you that standard, single trip travel insurance can't? Here's what you will get from a standard business travel insurance policy, such as one from

Up to £1,000 for business equipment

Up to £1,000 for business money

Up to £1,500 for a replacement employee

Of course, in addition to this, you'll also get all the standard cover that any travel insurance policy with provides - medical cover, lost/stolen or damaged possessions cover, curtailment/cancellation cover and access to a 24 hour emergency helpline.

Help when you need it

The extra cover which business travel insurance provides you with can be invaluable should you experience problems during your trip. It's worth bearing in mind that often, when travelling on business, the equipment and/or money you are carrying with you is not yours - it may be computer equipment that's on loan from your firm.  Without business insurance in place to protect you, you could be liable for the cost of replacing this expensive equipment should it be lost, stolen or damaged during your travels. You should also bear in mind that it's not just whilst you're travelling that equipment could be damaged - if you're giving a presentation to a group of employees or clients during your trip, there is the possibility that equipment could be damaged during meetings.

As you can see, there are a number of situations in which business insurance can help you, so it's a good idea to ensure that you're protected from the word go, before you even set foot on the plane. Travelling for business can be stressful enough, but with insurance in place to protect you, you can relax and focus on closing that deal!
